This interactive session, based on the Writing Rope by Joan Sedita, highlights how writers’ awareness of task, audience, and purpose (TAP) shpaes their choices in language, detail, and organization.  Participants will explore ways to explicitly teach TAP, reflect on their own writing assignments, and design authentic writing tasks that engage students in purposeful communication.
