Annual Center Conference Committee is meeting to plan the Center Annual Conference set for Saturday, June 6 at Lewis University Oakbrook Campus. The theme is “Coloring Outside the Lines” and will feature keynotes, Maurice McDavid and Lissette Jacobson, co-authors of Your Words Are Fire and renown author, social activist and professor of Black Studies, Dr. David Stovall!
The Work Force on Special Education meets to discuss critical issues in special education teacher preparation including: Currently, the SPED Task Force is developing a research plan to examine the state of SPED Teacher Retention in Illinois.
The Teacher Leader Task Force is working on an article on Teacher Leadership for Voices March 15th Call. They are also planning a panel to be aired in the evening to address the multiple opportunities for teachers to engage in Teacher Leadership through work that is underway across the state.
The Illinois Numeracy Plan Task Force is meeting to learn about the Numeracy Plan and better understand the role it plays in identifying needed preparation for teacher candidates in preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school. Draft 2 has been released and listening tours are underway. Dates and locations for the Listening Tours for Draft 2 have been set and follow:
On Mar. 13, we will discuss aspects of the Numeracy Plan we would like to address before its final review and adoption. Please bring your ideas
The Culturally Responsive Teacher and Leader Task Force is meeting to discuss and plan for “Beyond Checking the Box” and will focus on sharing ideas and ways to engage in: 1). Reflection, 2). Explicit Modeling, 3). Assignments, and, 4). Creating Safe Spaces. They are developing ideas for both a podcast and a blog.
The Literacy Task Force will continue their focus on ICLP Alignment: Next Steps for Educator Preparation Programs. Next steps include: Discussing the self-assessment, creating a resource area for studying for the content test on our Literacy Padlet, and planning a PDN for all students to prepare them for the content test.
